Last weekend, the ventures travelled to Fermanagh to take part in a cross border weekend organised by Scoutlink. The weekend took place in Gortatole Adventure Centre, located near the wonderful Marble Arch Caves. The ventures along with ventures from Buíonn Setanta and Slieve Foy met ventures and explorers from Belfast for a weekend of activities, challenges and of course a bit of craic! Ventures took part in caving expeditions in the nearby caves. The caves were fantastic and are well worth a visit. We spent nearly two hours weaving in and out of the crevices and passages in the caves, wading through ice cold water and admiring the work of nature. In the afternoon we spent some time orienteering and indoor rock climbing on what is one the best climbing walls that I have ever seen. In the evening time the ventures took part in games and discussions in order to find out more about cultures in Northern Ireland and vice versa. Of course, it did happen to fall on the same night as the X factor final and the activities were stopped for the duration of X factor so the girls (and lads) could watch their favourites singers contest the competition. Overall the weekend was excellent and I would like to thank Scoutlink and the staff of Gortatole.
